Description It is one of the more familiar representations of the Virgin. The Cretan painters of the 15th and 16th century, used to reproduce the image in its most popular version, the one of Emmanuel Lombardos - great painter of post-Byzantine icons - who lived in the second half of the 16th century. The prototype is exhibited at the Benaki Museum.
