Description One of the “greatest” saints of our Church, Saint John the Forerunner lived an ascetic life in the desert of Judea until his thirties. He lived on locusts and honey, was tanned, serious, decent, and dynamic with an impartial and remarkable personality. He prepared Jesus’ coming through his teachings which can be summarized in the phrase “Repent· the kingdom of heaven is at hand”. His celebration was established in the 5th century. According to the word of the Lord “no one is greater than John the Baptist”.
