Description He is one of the most popular saints in the Greek territory. The icon of Saint Fanourios was revealed randomly by a stranger in the 14th century A.D. in Rhodes. The icon was among many other icons under the ruins of a temple. In this icon Saint Fanourios is illustrated as a young man, dressed in a military uniform, holding a Cross and a lit candle. The icon is decorated circumferentially with scenes from the life of the Saint, which reveal the extent of his faith. In the place the icon was found, a church has been built in honor of the Saint. On the eve of the feast of Saint Fanourios on August 27, the custom of the "Pie of Saint Fanourios" takes place, where a pie is shared among the believers in order to bring health and happiness to the beloved ones and to even help find lost objects.
