Description One of the twelve disciples of Jesus, St. Philip came from Galilee. Jesus chose him as a disciple and he brought Nathaniel. He preached the Gospel in Parthia and died in martyrdom in the city of Hierapolis in Syria, where a church was built and his relics housed. After the Fall of Constantinople by the Latins in 1204 AD, his relics were transferred to Cyprus. Since 1788 AD the reliquary with the holy relics has been housed at the Holy Monastery of the Cross of Omodos in Cyprus.
