Description Born in Egypt, the son of wealthy parents, Saint Antonios renounced his wealth and his earthly life, and departed to the desert. He became the standard of ascetic life and a inspiration for other ascetics. He delivered his soul to God at the age of 105 years. The original icon, painted by Michael Damaskinos is located in the Byzantine and Christian Museum of Athens.
