Description A “contemporary” saint, Saint Nektarios or Nektarios of Pentapolis or Nektarios of Aegina was born in 1846 in Thrace to parents who were descendents of a renowned Byzantine family. He was a shepherd and a popular educator, while according to testimonies he performed miracles when still alive. His writings are renowned for their style and spirituality,by his contemporaries in the academic community. He built a monastery in Aegina and his contribution to the people of the island was as a brother, assistant and supporter.
