Description It is an icon that depicts the moment when the Archangel Gabriel announces to the Virgin the joyful news of the birth of the Son of the God, through her. The Virgin, with a bowed head, an indication of humility and acceptance of faith, accepts the news with anticipation and joy. The Holy Infant is depicted in her belly. The original icon is located in the Sanctuary of the Church of the Annunciation, Nazareth, the place where the Virgin met the Word of God. The church is located over a well, from where even today holy water spouts.
