VIRGIN OF KYKKOS

Description The Merciful Mary of Kykkos, according to Christian tradition, is a hagiography of St. Luke and adorns the Monastery of Mary of Kykkos, one of the largest and most historic monasteries in Cyprus. The icon has inspired the creation of many copies in several countries, such as Greece, Russia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Egypt and Ethiopia, an indication of the respect it enjoys among Orthodox people. The face of the original image is always covered to inspire even more respect.
